Cut! Take that leftover footage over to Dick and Ed, pronto. It?ll play well
off of Len Cella?s Silly Cinemas. Brooklyn boyz of summer Oxford Collapse
gear up for a long one, touring all throughout 2008 under a slew of new
releases ? Bits, their second full-length for Sub Pop, and this two-song
single. Everything you?ve loved about ?em before ? immediate hooks,
soaring choruses, boundless energy, and an unbridled obsession with rock
?n? pop of the past few decades ? is delivered with prompt, punchy aplomb
on a classic seven-incher. ?Bloopers? features yakety saxin? from former
bassist Mike Henry, weavin? all through a song of men who want, and the
breakdowns and breakups in between them and their bounty. But it?s
?Spike of Bensonhurst,? a remarkable, Anglicized reminiscence of returns
home, bolstered by piano and organ foundations and a significant New
Romantic-meets-Billy Joel feel (think the Psych Furs, or moreover Long
Island?s home for new wave and alt rock, WLIR-FM). ?Spike? represents a
true corner turned, easily one of the best songs they?ve ever written, and
surely one you?ll be playing over and over
